FaaS and Furious: When Fraud Moves Faster Than Trust

17 de set. de 2025

From:

9:50 AM

To:

10:30 AM

- Kristin Kupiec, Manager, Critical Investigations Unit, DoorDash
- Joe Midtlyng, Director of Enterprise Accounts, Incognia

Fraud in marketplaces has evolved into a sophisticated, scalable business model, with bad actors using off-the-shelf tactics and infrastructure to exploit platforms rapidly. This panel brings together leaders from DoorDash and Incognia to unpack the realities of Fraud-as-a-Service (FaaS), covering issues like fake seller identities, account takeovers, and gig worker impersonation, along with the strategies they use to fight back. Key takeaways include understanding why traditional fraud controls often fail against FaaS, insights from real investigations into coordinated fraud and marketplace abuse, and how platforms can utilize behavioral, device, and location data to disrupt fraud supply chains. The discussion also highlights the need for trust, policy, and operations teams to adopt flexible, adaptive frameworks rather than static rules to effectively combat fraud at scale. Through real-world examples, the panel explores the integration of policy, signal intelligence, and dynamic infrastructure in the fight against industrialized fraud.

What does it take to build inclusive digital marketplaces through thoughtful product strategy and user-centered design? As marketplaces scale globally, they must confront barriers rooted in language, accessibility, identity, and structural inequality. Panelists will explore how specific design choices, features, UI/UX features, and community engagement can foster inclusion while addressing risks such as algorithmic bias and exclusionary defaults, practices, or enforcement. From marginalized sellers to underserved consumers, the conversation will center on who is left out—and how marketplaces can evolve to meet their needs. This session offers practical insights into design methodologies and product decisions for building marketplaces that reflect and serve everyone.
