About me:

Nissan Modi is a Staff Software Engineer at Coinbase, where he serves as Tech Lead in the Platform organization building next-generation risk management infrastructure. He is currently leading the integration of machine learning into the risk decisioning pipeline — bringing intelligence into the loop to significantly reduce false positives, cut down manual review burden, and make fraud analysts more effective. He also architected Clustering, a platform powered by Amazon Neptune's graph database, that detects similarity between customers to identify fraud rings and prevent bad actors from exploiting the system at scale.

Before Coinbase, Nissan spent eight years at Amazon Web Services, where he played a key role in launching ServiceQuotas — a public AWS offering that gives customers visibility and control over their resource limits. As Tech Lead, he shaped the product vision and roadmap, scaled the service to handle 10x growth, and drove the development of capabilities such as Automated Quota Approvals and Resource Based Quotas that fundamentally improved how customers interact with AWS at scale.
